Nylon | EN

Eclipse EN materials are nylon based semi-crystalline polymers. They are high modulus materials useful for back-up rings and wear products. Easily machinable and processed in a wide variety of stock shapes; Eclipse EN materials offer the designer a very cost effective, highly structural product. Because nylon products are one of the most widely used polymers in the world, Eclipse EN materials are readily available, allowing fast turnaround on a large variety of machined shapes. Filled grades are available that offer reduced running friction and increased wear performance.

Notice:

Technical Information, test data and advice provided by Eclipse Engineering are based on information and tests we believe to be reliable and are intended for persons with knowledge and technical skill sufficient to analyze test types and apply adequate safety factors for the given application. Because actual application conditions vary widely, these values are intended for comparitive purposes only and the suitability of this material is ultimately left to the end user.

EN033

EN033 is Eclipse premium grade nylon, often referred to as Nylon 6. It is available in several different raw material shapes which allow the designer flexibility in fabrication. It has very similar properties to EA036, but with slightly higher tensile strength. As such, it should be considered for similar uses such as seal carriers, back-up rings, installation tools, spacers and lantern rings. EN033 may be specified for FDA, USDA and 3-A Dairy compliant components. EN033 can absorb water, which does not affect it physically, but can result in small dimensional changes. In water based media, EA036 should be considered.

Typical Properties Test Value Units
Specific Gravity ASTM D792 1.15 g/cc
Tensile Strength at Break ASTM D638 11,500 psi
Elongation at Break ASTM D638 50 %
Hardness ASTM D2240 66 Shore D

EN038

Eclipse EN038 is a nylon based material with molybdenum disulfide particles finely dispersed during polymerization. These particles significantly reduce the friction coefficient of the base resin, pushing the pressure-velocity rating. This makes EN038 particularly suited for use as linear bearings. EN038 offers a cost-effective choice when a general purpose load bearing material is required.
